In Kundalini Yoga you are required to have a very large ego, but you also have to be able to drop that ego. Imagine yourself as the space shuttle taking off and leaving this planet. You have these huge fuel cells attached to you, that’s your ego. Its required to have this to go thru life. Once you break free of the gravity of this planet, you have to let go of those fuel cells, you have to let go of the ego. You have to go thru a very small aperture, a portal, and your ego won’t fit. It will only fit when you praise the universe around you.

We all walk that razors edge in consciousness between light and dark and good and evil, but that’s the path of the spiritual being. You have to put yourself on that vision of the infinite universe. On that very narrow path that your walking there is no support. There is no reference point except for the breath itself. You can use a mantra like sat nam, wahe guru or whatever you wish, but in essence it comes down to coordinating that mantra with your breath so its automatic, so you don’t lose your path because its so easy to slip off of it.

The idea is that you learn to control the outflow of your prana. The idea is to protect yourself and yet be open, its that very narrow razor-sharp path. Because we’re not going to give you rules in this class to follow, we are going to give you guidelines, and even those will change as you progress in life.

Between the breaths is the pathway. When the breath is silent and you sit in that perfect silence, the crystalline structure of your mind opens up, the breath has stopped, and you’re allowed then to rise in consciousness. The frequency changes, your mind has stopped and the intent of your consciousness to elevate itself takes over. This is called our saddna. Saddna is our practice that allows us to complete that intent of consciousness when our mind is shut down.

The idea is to create a personality that can deal with the latent tendencies of our personality so that they don’t become destructive, so you’re not totally impaired by them. Its remembering who you are and remembering always to worship the inner light and to do that service to the inner light in each person that you meet, most of all to yourself.
